Maintenance Technician
Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada



In this role you will be working with the Maintenance Supervisor and maintenance team. You are primarily responsible for all plant repairs and aiding with fabrication. This includes performing regular inspections of equipment, conveyors and elevators to ensure the plant downtime is minimal and regular maintenance is scheduled appropriately. In addition, the individual is responsible for general duties such as maintaining the organization and cleanliness of the plant shops, vehicle sheds and parts warehousing – inside and outside.

Position Overview

  • Perform routine inspections of all processing equipment, conveyors and elevators
  • Responsible for maintenance (scheduled and non-scheduled) of all grain processing, grain conveying type equipment, electrical and compressor systems, used in the processes by the plant
  • Work with the Maintenance Supervisor to ensure all preventative monitoring is completed and recorded 
  • Organize and maintain the Maintenance Log for existing and new equipment
  • Report all issues to the Maintenance Supervisor in a timely manner
  • Participate in new process installations as requested
  • Practice safe work practices while performing repair duties. Utilize safety equipment when required, such as eye, ears, hand protection and use of fall protection
  • Be available for “Call In” for repairs after hours 
  • Maintain the plant shops, vehicle sheds and parts warehousing in a clean and organized manner 
  • Assist in maintaining the overall cleanliness of the plant facilities – inside and outside
  • Participate in the operating of the plant for a minimum of 4 days per month

Skills & Qualifications

  • Grade 12 education or equivalent
  • Must have 1-2 years previous experience in a similar capacity and/or operating a seed plant is an asset
  • Knowledge of and experience with welding
  • Comfortable utilizing Microsoft Office programs
  • Mechanically inclined
  • Keen eye for detail and quality
  • Able to work independently with little to no supervision
  • Self starter; motivated
  • Work well with others in a team environment
  • An ability to lift up to 100 lbs. and perform repetitive tasks including long periods of standing
  • Able to work in a dusty and noisy work environment, including outdoors in different elements and temperatures
  • Effective communication skills, both interpersonal and in writing
  • Travel outside of Moose Jaw for up to 5 nights per month, will be required on occasion
  • A valid driver's licence is a must
